- Application Instructions:
Step 1: Preparation: Surface to be mended should be free of heavy coats of dust or loose dirt. Flex-Mend™ will stick to wet surfaces.
Step 2: Using scissors or sharp utility knife; Cut a patch from a roll of Flex-Mend™ which will be large enough to cover the damaged area and lap over undamaged bottomboard at least 3 inches all the way around the repair area.
Step 3: To start removal of the release liner lay the patch flat, paper side down. Gently scratch the black woven plastic at a corner to separate a small section.
Step 4: Once a corner is separated, grasp the release liner in one hand and the plastic in the other. Slowly expose several inches of adhesive.
Step 5: With most of the release liner still attached to the adhesive at the edge of the undamaged bottomboard where the patch is to begin. CAUTION: Do not completely remove the paper release liner before attaching your patch in place. The plastic will curl, sticking your patch tightly to itself.
Step 6: With the patch attached to the bottomboard, slowly begin to pull off the paper release liner. Use both hands to pull off the paper. After the paper release liner is completely removed and the patch is in place, smooth the edges, and the entire patch, to assure total adhesion.
