This 2-Handle Kitchen Faucet is marketed as a "Value Added" product, by Empire Brass. Which means that, to save on cost of manufacturing and therefore cost to you, the body and spout are made of chromed plastic, however, the faucet stems are brass, ensuring long-time performance.
